Ford Tuning

Specialized performance calibration, cam phasing optimization, and swap integration for modern Ford platforms.

Introduction to Ford & Coyote Tuning

DBOYSCUSTOMS LLC provides specialized tuning for Ford platforms, with deep experience in Coyote engines and modern Ford ECUs. Whether you have a stock Coyote-powered Mustang, an F-150 with forced induction, or a Coyote swap project, our Ford tuning services deliver improved performance, refined throttle response, and transmission recalibration to match increased torque.

Located in Yukon, Oklahoma, we apply targeted calibration techniques to maximize safety and performance.

The Coyote and Modern Ford ECUs

Why Ford Tuning Matters

Ford’s Coyote engines and modern modular powerplants utilize variable cam timing, dual independent cams, and advanced torque management. These systems require platform-specific calibration expertise to unlock improvements without compromising drivability or longevity.

Factory maps are intentionally conservative; a high-quality tune refines ignition timing, cam phasing strategies, boost control for forced induction, and transmission behavior to suit your hardware and driving style.

Our Process

How We Tune Ford Vehicles

Our process for Ford and Coyote vehicles includes:

1

Intake & Documentation

We compile a detailed build sheet including injector size, turbo/supercharger specs, and supporting hardware.

2

Mechanical Inspection

Verify sensors, fuel supply, throttle body, and variable cam timing operation.

3

Baseline Logging

Capture factory parameters with dyno and road logs to identify areas for improvement.

4

Calibration

Modify ignition timing, fueling, cam timing strategies, torque management, and boost control as required. For Coyote engines, we carefully address cam phasing behavior under transient conditions.

5

Transmission Tuning

For automatics and dual-clutch setups, adjust shift strategies and torque limits to match increased power.

6

Validation & Refinement

Perform subsequent dyno runs and road testing to refine calibrations until they meet target AFRs and consistent power delivery.

7

Delivery & Documentation

Provide full documentation and recommended fueling and maintenance.

Transmission Tuning Considerations

Fords with automatic transmissions often include torque management to protect the drivetrain. When power increases, these torque management strategies must be recalibrated to maintain shift quality and prevent driveline harshness. For dual-clutch transmissions (DCT) and modern automatics, we adjust clutch fill, shift firmness, and converter lock-up behavior as necessary.

Diagnostics & Pre-Tuning Checks

Before tuning, we address check engine lights, sensor anomalies, and any mechanical issues. A tune masks no underlying mechanical faults — we ensure the vehicle is in a healthy state for safe calibration.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will tuning my Coyote void the warranty?

Any aftermarket changes can affect warranty coverage. We advise clients of potential impacts and design tunes to be reversible where possible. For heavily modified builds, factory warranty protection is often already limited.

  • Can you tune a Coyote swap into a classic Mustang?

Yes. We have experience integrating Coyotes into older vehicles, addressing crank/cam synchronization, ensuring clean starting, and delivering dependable idle and drivability.

  • What octane should I use after tuning?

Many driven tunes require higher octane (91–93 AKI) while race maps may require pump-plus or race-only fuels. We document required fuel and tuning sensitivity.
